Privacy Policy for Courier
Effective Date: February 08, 2026
Courier is a lightweight API client and development tool designed to help you test and manage your API requests. We value your privacy and believe that your development data belongs to you.
1. Data Storage & Ownership
Courier follows a Local-First philosophy.
- Local Storage: All your Collections, Request History, Environments, and Variables are stored locally on your device using secure local storage mechanisms.
- No Cloud Sync: We do not upload your request data, API keys, or collections to our servers. Your data stays on your device.
- Ownership: You retain full ownership and control over all data you create or import into the app.
2. Information Collection
Since the app operates locally, our data collection is minimal:
- No Personal Information: We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
- No Tracking: We do not track your usage patterns or the APIs you interact with.
- Technical Logs: We may collect standard crash reports (if you opt-in via system settings) to help us improve app stability.
3. Network Activity
The core function of Courier is to make HTTP/HTTPS requests to servers specified by you.
- User-Initiated Requests: The app only makes network connections when you explicitly execute a request.
- Direct Connection: Requests are sent directly from your device to the target API endpoint. We do not route traffic through our servers.
- Data Transmission: Any data (headers, bodies, tokens) you include in your requests is transmitted to the destination URL you provide. You are responsible for ensuring trust in the endpoints you interact with.
4. Permissions
To function as an API client, Courier requires the following permission:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Internet | To send API requests to the URLs you specify and receive responses. |
5. Data Security
We prioritize the security of your local data:
- Local Encryption: We recommend using device-level security (passcode/biometrics) to protect the data stored on your device.
- Sensitive Data: Be cautious when storing sensitive API keys or tokens. While we store them locally, anyone with physical access to your unlocked device could potentially view them.
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices. Since we do not collect your email, we advise you to review this page periodically for any changes.
