Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Chess World ("we," "us," or "our") regarding your use of the Chess World application and services.

By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our service.

Definitions

• "Service" refers to the Chess World application, website, and all related services

1. Eligibility

Chess World is open to everyone! There are no age restrictions to enjoy chess.

• You must not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable laws
• One account per person (multiple accounts may be terminated)
• Accounts must not be created for fraudulent purposes
• Impersonating others is strictly prohibited

2. Account Registration and Security

Registration

• You must provide accurate, current, and complete information
• You must maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
• You are responsible for all activities under your account
• You may not transfer or share your account with others

Security

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized account use
• You must use a strong, unique password

3. Acceptable Use Policy

You May

• Play chess games according to rules
• Participate in tournaments and competitions
• Interact with other users respectfully
• Share your games and achievements
• Use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes

You May Not

Cheating and Fair Play

• Use chess engines, bots, or external assistance during games
• Receive help from other players during rated games
• Use multiple accounts to manipulate ratings
• Intentionally lose games to benefit another account (sandbagging)
• Manipulate tournament pairings or results

Abuse and Harassment

• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
• Use offensive, vulgar, or discriminatory language
• Spam or send unsolicited messages
• Engage in any form of cyberbullying
• Post content that promotes hate or violence

Technical Abuse

• Attempt to hack, disrupt, or compromise the Service
• Use automated tools or scripts without authorization
• Reverse engineer or decompile the application
• Bypass security measures or access restrictions
• Interfere with other users' gameplay

Illegal Activities

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Engage in fraud or financial crimes
• Distribute malware or malicious code
• Attempt to exploit minors

4. User Content

Your Content

• You retain ownership of content you create or share
• You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content on the Service
• You represent that you have rights to all content you post
• You are responsible for your content and its consequences

Our Right to Remove Content

We reserve the right to remove any content that:

• Violates these Terms
• Infringes on intellectual property rights
• Is illegal or harmful
• We deem inappropriate for any reason

5. Games and Ratings

Fair Play

• All games must be played fairly without external assistance
• Suspected cheating will be investigated
• Violations may result in rating adjustments or account termination

Rating System

• Ratings are calculated using Elo system or similar algorithms
• We reserve the right to adjust ratings for fairness
• Rating manipulation is prohibited
• Ratings do not represent official FIDE ratings unless explicitly stated

Game Outcomes

• Game results are final unless overturned due to verified technical issues
• Disconnections during games follow our disconnect policies
• Disputes will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis

6. Tournaments and Competitions

Participation

• Follow all tournament rules and regulations
• Be available and ready for scheduled matches
• Withdrawals from tournaments must be made appropriately
• Fair play rules apply with stricter enforcement

Prizes and Awards

• Prize eligibility requires compliance with all Terms
• Prizes may be withheld or reclaimed for violations
• Tax obligations for prizes are your responsibility
• We reserve the right to disqualify participants for rule violations

7. Intellectual Property

Our Rights

All content, features, and functionality of Chess World are owned by us and protected by:

• Copyright laws
• Trademark laws
• Patent laws
• Other intellectual property laws

Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

• Access and use the Service for personal purposes
• Download the application on your devices
• Use according to these Terms

8. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

Service "As Is"

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Loss of profits, data, or use
• Damages arising from service interruptions
• Damages from unauthorized access to your data
• Any damages exceeding the amount paid by you in the past 12 months

9. Termination

By You

• You may delete your account at any time through settings
• Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

• We suspect fraudulent activity

• We discontinue the Service

Effect of Termination

10. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution

11. Changes to Terms

Notification

• In-app notification

Acceptance

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of new Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

12. Miscellaneous

• Entire Agreement: These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Chess World.
• Severability: If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
• No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right.
• Assignment: You may not assign these Terms. We may assign our rights without restriction.
